Darcy Stevens, recording arts educator at Missouri State University, has won an emPower “Posi” award for his song and music video, That’s None of My Business. Stevens wrote the song with his wife and Stevens’ students helped him create the music video that won first prize. The awards will be presented in Orlando at the Posi Music Festival Jan. 17-20 2014. The Posi Award is in its 9th year
emPower Music and Arts is a community dedicated to creating positive global change through music, writing and the spoken word. All of the songs and videos submitted to the competition have empowering and uplifting meanings.
Stevens is still in awe over receiving this award. “When I found out, I was like, ‘What happened?’ I thought, OK cool we made the finals, fantastic, excellent effort. I heard that we won and my jaw dropped. We were actually up against some incredibly well-known writers.”
Stevens is graciously accepting this award as well. “There was an incredible number of people who actually helped out: the Greek community, musicians, my students, EA and RA majors. It wound up being an outside sort of journey and humbly, it has become an award for all of us.”
