Professor Lanette Cadle from the English Department was recently honored by Missouri State Online for her exemplary efforts to improve her online and distance education skills. Professor Samuel Gingerich from the Religious Studies Department was honored for the 2017 fall semester for his devotion to quality online teaching and learning. Dr. Michael Hammond, Senior Instructor from the School of Accountancy, has received his second Certified Distance Educator Award for further developing his expertise through the Blackboard Learn webinar series. His focus is centered on grading, content and engagement. Dr. Hammond’s students are the first to benefit from his devotion to improvement in the realm of distance teaching and learning.
Jennifer Rojas-McWhinney, Assistant Professor, Childhood Education and Family Studies, received her second Certified Distance Educator award. Professor Rojas-McWhinney attended sessions at the 2017 Showcase for Teaching and Learning, completed the Digital Professor Academy and a Blackboard Learning session focused upon techniques in designing engaging content for distance students. Missouri State Online applauds Professor Rojas-McWhinney for her devotion to quality distance instruction.
Chloe Bolyard, Assistant Professor of Childhood Education and Family Studies, has received her Certified Distance Educator Award. Her areas of expertise include elementary education, curriculum, cultural studies, educational leadership and teacher narratives of experience. Kayla Jenkins, a professor in the Department of Religious Studies, has been awarded the Certified Distance Education Award for meritorious attention to developing her online teaching and learning skills. Dr. Ching-Wen Chang from the Department of Reading, Foundations and Technology has received her second Certified Distance Educator Award for her participation and completion of the Blackboard Black Belt Grandmaster Series for 2017. Dr. Chang is respected for her application of progressive online teaching and learning strategies.
Annice McLean, Senior Instructor with the Department of Reading, Foundations and Technology, completed three new development activities designed to expand her skills in the field of online and distance teaching and learning. Among her accomplishments include participation in the 2017 Showcase on Teaching and Learning as well as attending five workshops in the Black Board Black Belt series.
Kimberly Van Ornum, Senior Instructor in Mathematics, won recognition recently for her devotion to excellence in online teaching and learning. Ms. Van Ornum completed three of the Black Board Black Belt sessions that covered student engagement, content management and upgraded her grade center skills. Kudos to Ms. Van Ornum’s care and concern for excellence in distance teaching and learning.
Tracy Dalton, Senior Instructor from the Department of English, completed her second Certified Distance Educator Award. Her areas of research and interests include English/American grammar, punctuation usage, editing and academic advising. Dr. Mike Wood, Career Resource Specialist at the Career Center, has recently received the Certified Distance Educator Award. He completed the Blackboard Black Belt series during 2017.
