Thank You and Congratulations to Dr. Frank Einhellig

May 11, 2022 by LeAnne Snow

The PAS Department would like to congratulate Dr. Frank Einhellig on his upcoming retirement.  The MSU PA Program founding Director Dr. Patti Ragan commented that “Dr. Einhellig was a champion in the establishment of graduate level health programs at MSU, and he was instrumental in promoting a greater health care workforce for the community and state”. Dr. Einhellig made sure that Dr. Ragan had the support and resources needed to develop the PA Department. Since establishment of the department in 1999, Dr. Einhellig continued to play a pivotal role in supporting not only the department but the PA profession as well. On behalf of PAS alumni, students, staff, and faculty we wish Dr. Einhellig much happiness and many new life adventures. With much gratitude and respect, PAS Department.

Congratulation to PAS faculty member Shannon Hauschildt.  University Provost Dr. Frank Einhellig concurred with the recommendation of external peer reviewers, PAS Department Personnel Committee, PAS Department Head, and Dean of the McQueary College of Health that Shannon be granted tenure, and be promoted from the rank of Assistant to Associate Professor. Dr. Einhellig has made this recommendation to the MSU Board of Governors who are scheduled to meet June 2022. PAS is very fortunate that Shannon chose this institution and PA program to begin her academic career. Congratulations are definitely in order!

Bridging the Rural and Underserved Gap

May 10, 2022 by LeAnne Snow

The MSU PA program held the Bridge the Gap fundraising event fall 2021. The vision of the PA program is to assign more clinical rotations in rural underserved communities, in hopes of increasing the likelihood that graduates will practice in these areas. One strategy to achieve this vision is to use the Bridge the Gap event to raise funds in order to help defer student clinical training housing costs in rural underserved communities. This first-time event proved to be very successful with over $2,000 raised. To date, two students have directly benefited from this campaign with more beneficiaries to come this year. Plans are to make the Bridge the Gap an annual fall event.

We would like to thank donors who made the 2021 Bridge the Gap campaign a success.
