Brick City Gallery–Spring 2021 Exhibitions

The Spring 2021 semester featured a full schedule of programming covering a range of diverse themes for our audience to explore.

Human +: Living and Making during the HIV/AIDS Epidemic
January 11 – February 7

Featuring Ben Cuevas, Kairon Liu, Darryl D Terrell, and Jessica Whitbread Human + explored artists living and making with HIV. This exhibition also included a curated timeline exploring the history of HIV/AIDS in Missouri and North America.

Back in my Body: Rae Senarighi
February 16 – March 5

Back in my Body celebrated and appreciated the human form by encouraging the notion of being at home in our own bodies. Through the use of vivid color mixed with continuous self-acceptance and self-love, Rae Senarighi creates portraits and typography showcasing beautiful individuals celebrating their stunning uniqueness with pride.

From Chernobyl to COVID Poster Collection
March 22 – April 9

In collaboration with PosterTerritory and The 4th Block, From Chernobyl to COVID Poster Collection curated by Olga Severina and Oleg Veklenko explored two of the world’s most catastrophic and poignant events in recent history.

Spring 2021 BFA in Art Senior Exhibition
April 26 – May 8

Every semester, the Brick City Gallery is pleased to host an exhibition of work by graduating students from the Department of Art and Design. The spring exhibition showcases the talent and skill of students who have spent years developing an artistic practice that will carry them into their professional careers.

SEC– Spring 2021 Exhibitions

During the spring 2021 semester, the university announced the building housing the Student Exhibition Center would be sold as we transitioned to a newly acquired exhibition space located at 326 N. Boonville. We closed out our time at the SEC, also known as the old Sorosis house with four student focused exhibitions.

Annual Foundations Exhibition
January 25 – February 10

The Annual Foundations Exhibition featured a well-rounded collection of work from the department’s foundations courses demonstrating student’s understanding of various artistic concepts in two and three-dimensional design, as well as drawing.

Metals + Jewelry / Photography Exhibition
February 24 – March 9

The biennial Metals + Jewelry / Photography show exhibited a dynamic collection of metals + jewelry and photography student work ranging from all levels of undergraduate study.

Sculpture / Drawing + Painting Exhibition
April 5 – 16

The Sculpture / Drawing + Painting Exhibition featured an strong display of sculpture and drawing + painting work from students studying at all levels in the department’s undergraduate courses.

BFA in Design Exhibition
May 3 – 13

Every semester the Student Exhibition Center is pleased to host an exhibition of work by graduating students from the Department of Art and Design.
