The Political Science Department was privileged to host Dr. Rex Brynen for two events last week (three if you count paintball). Dr. Brynen presented a public lecture entitled ” Beyond the Arbab Spring” and conducted a post-conflict simulation with graduate students from the Global Studies and Public Administration programs.
Dr. Brynen is Professor of Political Science at McGill University, and senior editor of the conflict simulation blog PAXsims (http://www.paxsims.org). He is author/coauthor of three books, including Beyond the Arab Spring: Authoritarianism and Democratization in the Arab World (2012). He is also editor/co-editor of eight other books and more than forty articles and book chapters on various aspects of Middle East politics, regional security, conflict resolution, and other topics. In addition to his academic work, he has served as as an intelligence analyst, policy planner, and as a consultant for various Canadian and other government departments, UN agencies, and the World Bank.
