Ken Oberbeck, Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis at Emerson Commercial & Residential Solutions in St. Louis, recalls the influence of Dr. Alice Bartee.
Dr. Bartee was one of my favorite professors during my time at Missouri State. Beyond the outstanding education she provided in the classroom, she helped me get a job with a law firm in Springfield while I was an undergraduate, coached me through LSAT prep and law school admissions, and when I ultimately decided that I didn’t have the passion for the law that she did, I think she was genuinely disappointed, but still understanding. Despite the fact that I did not pursue law as a career, through Dr. Bartee I developed a great appreciation for the value of having a fundamental understanding of the importance of constitutional law that has served me well in both my career and life in general. For that, I’m thankful that I had the privilege of being one of her students.
