Missouri State University Board of Governor, Political Science alumni, and Women’s Foundation Vice President of Research & Policy and General Counsel, Kendall Seal, sent an update on the Appointments Project.
The Appointments Project “works to empower women and strengthen communities by increasing the gender diversity of public boards and commissions.” To date, these efforts have resulted in more than 100 appointees.
As part of the project, the Women’s Foundation “released new research on the benefits of gender diversity and a set of best practices to help municipal leaders increase the diversity and effectiveness of public boards and commissions. The best practices, developed in collaboration with researchers at the University of Missouri Institute of Public Policy, identify five strategies political executives can employ to increase the diversity and effectiveness of boards and commissions.”
