Missouri State alumni, David Rush, has been honored with the Bear of Distinction award.
The Hon. David Rush graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1983 with a BSED in Social Studies and earned his J.D. at the University of Iowa in 1986. In 1990, Judge Rush was appointed as an Assistant United States Attorney for United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), Western District of Missouri, Springfield Division, and worked in the Department of Justice’s Federal Drug Task Force Section.
He has served as United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Missouri, Springfield Division, since his appointment on December 1, 2012. He presides over a robust federal criminal docket as well as federal civil cases, Social Security appeals, and mediation in civil matters. His duties also include presiding over mental health hearings at the Federal Medical Center in Springfield.
