The Political Science department at Missouri State University is pleased to welcome Michael Masterson.
I am an incoming Assistant Professor of Political Science at Missouri State University. I study the influence of emotions on international security decision making with an area focus on China. My current book project examines when political leaders use national humiliation narratives as a political strategy and the unintended effects of these narratives and the emotions they evoke on foreign policy. I use a wide range of methods in my work including experiments, machine learning, and case studies. I studied for my doctorate in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Joint B.A./M.A. in Global Studies and Political Science. I am looking forward to meeting you all!
