2017 alumni, Dayton Murty, recently accepted a position as Director Of Government Relations at CP Strategies LLC, a public affairs and government relations firm based in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In his new role, Dayton is a registered lobbyist for companies and organizations involved in energy, health care, telecommunications, and commercial lending, and a consultant for various political campaigns across Nebraska.

Since receiving his Political Science degree, Dayton has held positions as legislative liaison for the Missouri Secretary of State, media buyer in a consulting firm with clients nationwide, and legislative aide in the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature.

Dayton’s advice for current students is to seize the opportunities provided at Missouri State. Study hard, get an internship, and build a network. You never know when the connections or impressions you make today will have an impact on your future.

Getting a degree will qualify you for many positions, but it is the extra work that you put in and connections you make which will set you apart in whatever path you choose.
