Music and Media Collections
Grand Re-Opening Reception
Date: Thursday, December 1
Time: 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Location: Meyer Library, Lower Level
Join in on the celebration of the redesigned and expanded music and media collections in the Meyer Library. Now the music library and the media collections are all in one centralized location! There will be live music, complimentary refreshments and door prizes at the reception.

Nominations due Friday, December 2
The Missouri State University Foundation Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service are intended to provide incentives for continued performance to a select number of full-time faculty who evidence significant accomplishments in teaching, research and/or creative activities, and service. The awards are funded by the MSU Foundation.
The awards are presented annually to faculty at the All-Faculty Recognition Reception held in May of each year. Six awards are presented and each recipient will receive a $3,600 award funded by the Missouri State University Foundation.
Nominations and/or applications for 2011–2012 are being accepted now. You can access the online form on the Office of the Provost website.
Nominations/applications are due to the Provost Office by Friday, December 2. Please see the 2011–2012 Guidelines for additional information.
Turning Point Basics
Date: Thursday, December 8
Times and Locations: 9:30–10:45 a.m. in Meyer Library 205; 1:00–2:15 p.m. in Cheek Hall 100
This workshop focuses on the pedagogy and technical aspects of the Turning Point student response “clicker” system. The workshop will benefit participants who wish to learn the basics of the Turning Point student response system and how to use it in their own courses.

Brown Bag Session on “The Teaching Professor”
Date: Tuesday, November 8
Time: 12:30–1:30 p.m.
Location: Library 204
This series offers a unique opportunity to share experiences with colleagues and discuss topics from the monthly issue of “The Teaching Professor”; or bring a topic to discuss that directly relates to current classroom teaching experiences. Participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch and drink.
This session is presented by Chantal Levesque-Bristol, professor in the Department of Psychology and director of the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.

Professors as Writers: Monthly Faculty Writing Retreat

Times: Half-Day Morning: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; Half-Day Afternoon: 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Location: Alumni Center, Turner Family Hospitality Room
Need a distraction-free space to begin new articles, revise and resubmit, polish book proposals, or complete last edits? Take advantage of this opportunity to work on whatever you’re writing.

U.S. Professors of the Year Nominations
Submit nominations to the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning by Wednesday, December 7
The U.S. Professors of the Year program salutes the most outstanding undergraduate instructors in the country—those who excel in teaching and who positively influence the lives and careers of students.
Nominees should demonstrate excellence in the following areas:
- Impact on and involvement with undergraduate students
- A scholarly approach to teaching and learning
- Contributions to undergraduate education in the institution, community, and profession
- Support from colleagues and former undergraduate students
Nominees will be contacted by the FCTL with details on necessary application materials. Applications will be reviewed by the FCTL Advisory Committee, and three candidates will be selected for submission to the U.S. Professors of the Year competition.
