The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will be offering the Digital Professor Academy beginning Spring 2014. Optimal Preparation for Promotion for Instructors
Date: Monday, December 2
Time: 3:30–5:00 p.m.
Location: LIBR 101
This workshop will focus on the criteria that are used for promotion to Senior Instructor and how to optimally prepare to meet them. Establishment of yearly goals and documentation of progress will be emphasized.

2014 Curtis P. Lawrence Excellence in Advising Awards
In recognition of outstanding academic advising, two Missouri State University Curtis P. Lawrence Excellence in Advising awards will be presented during the spring semester 2014. One will honor a faculty advisor, and one will honor an advisor who is a member of the professional staff. Each recipient will receive a $1500 cash award, presented at a reception to honor all Master Advisors.
To nominate an outstanding advisor, please submit the name by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9 to Kathy Davis, Director of the Academic Advisement Center. Candidates may be nominated by current students, alumni or colleagues. Submit the name in an e-mail to kathydavis@missouristate.edu or send a note through campus mail. Temple Hall Vivarium
The vivarium addition to Temple Hall is now complete. Before we move animals into the space, which restricts general access, we would like for all interested faculty/staff and students to see the new facility.
Please join us for an open house and tours on Friday, November 22 from 1:00–3:00 p.m. in Temple Hall—southwest corner of the building.

Blackboard Spotlight: Spring 2014 Training Schedule Now Available!
From getting a JumpStart on the semester, creating engaging content, and monitoring student performance, we offer classes to help you build and manage your Blackboard courses better than ever. If you’d like to take your knowledge and usage of Blackboard to the next level, we have a whole series of classes devoted to becoming a Blackboard Black Belt! See more information on the Blackboard at Missouri State website and register through My Learning Connection.
In addition to Blackboard training, Computer Services offers many other classes.
If you’re interested in learning Camtasia, the video editing software, we have monthly sessions to teach you how. There’s also Student Learning Lounge sessions devoted to informing the entire campus community about technology topics such as Prezi, Office 365, and Microsoft IT Academy. You can visit either of our two Friday Open Labs throughout the semester for assistance when you need it with Blackboard, Argos, or Web Press. No registration needed to visit an Open Lab, just come by!

MSU Foundation Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Research,
and Service
Nominations for 2013–2014 are now being accepted
The Missouri State University Foundation Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service are intended to provide incentives for continued performance to a select number of full-time faculty who evidence significant accomplishments in teaching, research and/or creative activities and service. These awards are funded by the Missouri State University Foundation.
The awards are presented annually to faculty at the All-Faculty Recognition Reception held in the spring of each year. Six Foundation Awards are presented and each recipient will receive a $3,600 award funded by the Missouri State University Foundation.
Nominations for 2013–2014 are now being accepted. Faculty members do not need to be nominated to submit application material. You can access the online form on the Provost website. The initial intent to apply or nomination form is due to the Provost Office by Friday, December 13. Application materials will be due in departmental offices by Monday, January 27, 2014. Please see the 2013–2014 Guidelines for additional information.
