2014 PSIP Recipient Achievements Posted
The research achievements of the 30 faculty who make up the 2014 inaugural cadre of the PSIP are posted on the Provost’s website. Elements that illustrated the recipients’ research productivity and mentoring of students were selected for posting. This typically included the research vita and the research matrix, which were the focus of the university-level review by the Provost Advisory Committee to make the final recommendations and rankings submitted to the Provost and President. Teaching and service also were important, and sustained excellence in these areas was verified by college-level reviews. We encourage those interested in applying for the PSIP during the next cycle to review the posted materials and consult with one of their colleagues listed here on how best to prepare submission materials.
Applications for the next cycle will be due on December 12th, 2014 in the Dean’s office. Please feel free to contact Dr. Chris Craig or Dr. Julie Masterson in the Provost’s Office should you have questions about PSIP.
Ancient Greece Leaves Legacy of Drama, Democracy and Argument
Ancient Athens can be credited for so much of the foundation that is today’s society: drama, both tragedy and comedy, and democracy with laws made by the people. Dr. Edwin Carawan, professor of modern and classical languages at Missouri State University, noted that the ancient Athenians also created the art of speech writing and rhetoric, both of which have inspired his publishing projects, which have focused on the intersection of law and rhetoric. Learn more about Dr. Carawan’s research on the Mind’s Eye website.
The purpose of Mind’s Eye is to highlight research and scholarly activities at Missouri State University. This publication is available online and in print. Dr. Carawan’s research, along with many other research projects, can be found on the Mind’s Eye website.
