Beginning June 8, the English Language Institute Summer Program hosts an intensive English program called the Academic Lecture Series. Missouri State faculty members from various disciplines and special interest off-campus speakers are invited to lecture to over 100 students representing countries from around the world. Participating faculty members give a 45-minute lecture on any topic in their field, followed by a 10-minute question-answer period. This program helps our students get a sense of what classes at Missouri State are like and what they can expect when they begin their undergraduate or graduate studies, after improving their English skills with us.
Because the summer schedule only allows room for six (6) lectures, the dates are limited. Lecture requests typically fill up within one or two days following the request; if you think you would like to guest lecture, please respond quickly!
Lectures will be offered on the following Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule:
June: 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30
July: 1, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21
All lectures will take place from 1:30–2:15 p.m. in the Jim D Morris Center, Room 500, on the corner of Jefferson and McDaniel (Downtown).
If you would like more information before making a decision, please send an e-mail to Shauna MacDonald. If you are interested in participating, please respond as soon as possible; our lecture times fill up quickly! In your e-mail, please include available dates and a brief description of your topic.
Your consideration is greatly appreciated!
