Beginning Tuesday, August 18th, the English Language Institute Summer Program hosts an intensive English program called the Academic Lecture Series. Missouri State faculty members from various disciplines and special interest off-campus speakers are invited to lecture to over 200 students representing countries from around the world. Participating faculty members give a 30-minute lecture on any topic in their field, followed by a 10-minute question-answer period. This program helps our students get a sense of what classes at Missouri State are like and what they can expect when they begin their undergraduate or graduate studies, after improving their English skills with us.
We would like you to volunteer to participate in the Fall 2015 program! Lecture requests typically fill up within one or two days following the request; if you think you would like to guest lecture, please respond quickly!
The following dates are open for lectures:
August: 25, 26, 27
September: 1, 2, 3, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23
October: 21, 22, 27, 28, 29
November: 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19
*Because the ELI has converted to 8-week sessions, a total of 12 lectures are needed for the Fall Semester.
All lectures will take place from 1:30–2:15 p.m. in the Jim D Morris Center, Room 410, on the corner of Jefferson and McDaniel (Downtown).
If you would like more information before making a decision, please send an e-mail to Shauna MacDonald. If you are interested in participating, please respond as soon as possible; our lecture times fill up quickly! In your e-mail, please include available dates and a brief description of your topic.
Your consideration is greatly appreciated!
