The American Association of State Colleges and Universities Vice President for Academic Leadership and Change, Dr. George Mehaffy, will be the luncheon speaker at the 2nd Annual Civic Engagement Conference. His presentation will focus on the critical work of democracy education. Dr. Mehaffy will discuss how we can better educate students to be engaged citizens, the activities campuses can undertake that produce the most powerful civic outcomes and what curricular and pedagogical strategies yield the most substantial outcomes.
Also, don’t miss Dr. Jose Zapata Calderon, Professor of Sociology and Chicano Studies at Pitzer College in California. Dr. Calderon is well known for his work in building partnerships between communities and higher education. No RSVP needed.
