Upcoming Faculty Writing Retreat

Monthly faculty writing retreats provide dedicated time and space to work on academic writing. Retreats include breakfast and a light lunch, opportunities to develop a strong network of peer support and accountability, and voluntary feedback sessions.

Librarian Jessica Bennett will present how Meyer Library can assist you in ways that contribute to student learning and success.
Meyer Library offers services and resources for all members of our campus community, distance students included! This orientation includes an overview of our new library website, and how to access and use resources. We will discuss using the tabbed search box to identify and locate materials (including E books), and take a look at subject guides. Also discussed, our ‘Ask a Librarian’ link, which includes virtual research consultations, how to request library instruction for a class, course reserves, inter-library loan, and the library tab in Blackboard.

Infographics Bootcamp
Infographics are a visual representation of data or important concepts making it a creative way for students to demonstrate their mastery of knowledge. These tools are also becoming popular ways of presenting information at educational conferences.
This course will allow faculty the opportunity to get acquainted with the infographics method of displaying information. Topics include an introduction to infographics, research regarding science of human information processing, infographic creation best practices and an overview of infographic creation tools.
At the end of this course, faculty should be able to:
- Explain the basic components of an infographic
- Explain how infographics can increase student comprehension vs. traditional text display of information
- Explain the best practices of creating an effective infographic
- Demonstrate effective use of infographic creation software
