Federal and state compliance definitions specify that when a student is granted a degree from the completion of multiple programs for the same degree and CIP code, then that award can only be counted as one degree by MSU. For example, a student completes Bachelor of Science programs in Fashion Merchandising and in Fashion Design at the same time. Both of these programs lead to a BS degree under the CIP 19.0901. In this case the University may count this as one degree (BS) awarded. However, as student completing a Bachelor of Science in Health Communication as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Health Communication, both under the CIP 09.0901, may be counted as two distinct degrees (BA, BS).
OIR and QDUG have collaborated to implement code changes in Argos reports available on Bear Intelligence to properly reflect this methodology for University report users, including the Awards Granted OLAP and the AIM Dashboard, as well as on Key Performance Indicator 3.
