31st Showcase on Teaching and Learning
Register now! Due to the implementation of a new learning management system, registration will be unavailable from 5/22/16 until sometime around the 3rd week of June. Please call at 6-3059 or email the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning to register during that time.
Date: Wednesday, August 17, 2016
Showcase Highlights:
- 8:00–8:50 a.m. Inclusion of Diversity at Missouri State University
Join Dr. Wes Pratt as he discusses the background, history and the future for the inclusion of diversity on campus as well as in the Springfield community. - 9:00–11:30 a.m. Faculty Workshops and Interactive Poster Sessions
Participate in 50-minute faculty expert sessions and interactive poster sessions presented by MSU Curriculum Innovation award winners. - 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Luncheon and Keynote Address with Dr. Thomas J. Tobin
Dr. Tobin will present “Universal Design for Learning That You Can Do Today” which will introduce participants to Universal Design for Learning, newly revised for higher education (CAST, 2014). You will discover how to implement UDL in program assessment, policy development, technology selection, course design, and teaching practices. This is best accomplished through an incremental approach, using a “next 20” series of milestones—achievements that can be attained in the next 20 minutes, 20 days, and 20 months (Tobin, 2014). You’ll also find out where to look for help at your institution: recent research from CAST and the Center for Universal Design in Education suggests that institutions whose faculty-support staff use UDL, too, see better adoption rates and deeper penetration of UDL principles across all courses (CAST, 2014; DO-IT, 2015).
Please register for Showcase on Teaching and Learning and the Keynote Luncheon on MyLearning Connection.
