The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael G. Burton, Professor of Agriculture, has been selected as the Provost Fellow for Public Affairs for 2017–2018. As Provost Fellow for Public Affairs, Dr. Burton will be responsible for the Public Affairs Conference in April 2018 and promoting the Public Affairs mission of the University. The topic for the 2018 Conference will be the university-wide Public Affairs theme Sustainability in Practice: Consensus and Consequences. Dr. Burton will shadow this year’s Provost Fellow for Public Affairs, Dr. Kevin Pybas, in preparation for the work he will do in preparing for the 2018 Public Affairs Conference.
According to Dr. Burton, “The Public Affairs conference provides us — as a community — an opportunity to dig deeper into our roles as citizens in a complex world. The 2018 theme, Sustainability in Practice: Consensus and Consequences, invites us to explore and evaluate the volume of issues facing our population and planet. It is my hope that our community will truly engage in uncommon partnerships across disciplines to seek out reliable information and be motivated by better understanding for our mutual good.”
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Michael G. Burton as the 2017–2018 Provost Fellow for Public Affairs as we explore the theme of “Sustainability in Practice: Consensus and Consequences .”
