Master Advisor Refresher Workshops
Date: Friday, March 31
Time: 1:30–4:00 p.m.
Location: University Hall 200
Designed for master advisors whose certification has lapsed or those who wish to fulfill certification for year with one session, the focus of these workshops will be on changes at MSU as well as advanced advising practices. Possible topics include changes in the testing center, updates on advising international students, multicultural programs and services, interdisciplinary majors, and the new language certification program.

Advising First-Generation Students: Information and Strategies to Improve Student Success

Peer Assistance Leaders Share Their Program

Presenters: PAL leaders from Zayed University in Dubai
The PALs Program was established in recognition of the fact that students like to help each other with their studies. Establishing a peer-mentoring program provides assistance to peers, usually beginning students, in a supportive and encouraging relationship. This type of relationship usually involves the characteristics of role modelling, encouragement and positive reinforcement of achievable academic goals. Come to meet five representatives from this program who are visiting Missouri State University and learn about their program.
