What Academic Advisors Need to Know about Title IX
Date: Tuesday, May 1
Time: 12:30 to 1:30p.m.
Location: Plaster Student Union 315
Presenter: Jill Patterson, Title IX Coordinator
Because academic advisors have ongoing, individual relationships with advisees, they sometimes have students disclose to them that they have experienced (or been accused of) sexual violence, harassment, assault, or stalking. Most academic advisors know that they are now mandated reporters, but they may not know the policies and procedures for both complainants and respondents, nor do they always know how to navigate the difficult conversations that can follow. Come to this session to learn more about the Title IX office at Missouri State University, your responsibilities under Title IX, and how to support a student who is involved in a Title IX investigation.
