Call for Proposals
2019–2020 curriculum innovation awards
Submission deadline Wednesday, October 31st
The FCTL Advisory Council is soliciting proposals for the creation or improvement of student learning experiences at Missouri State University. At this time, MSU is particularly interested in proposals that emphasize online learning and teaching practices at a distance. Proposal types that will be considered are:
- Creating high-impact practices that enhance student learning
- Integrating diversity and multicultural practices in teaching and learning
- Incorporating the use of innovative technologies and online teaching practices
Curriculum Innovation Awards will provide funding of up to $4,000. Budgets smaller than the $4,000 award limit are encouraged.
Any faculty member is eligible to apply. Faculty may apply individually or as a team of faculty. Per course instructors and adjuncts can submit a proposal as long as they collaborate with at least one full-time faculty member. Faculty members will not be funded for more than one project per funding cycle.
Curriculum Innovation proposals should be submitted electronically to the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Please include in the subject line of your email: CI Proposal_“your last name” and email to the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning no later than October 31, 2018.
Faculty write program 2018–2019
Times: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Location: LIBR 204 (FCTL)

The Faculty Write Program focuses on promoting faculty productivity and camaraderie through writing-based experiences such as interdisciplinary writing retreats held twice a month, workshops, and 10-day writing challenges. Writing retreats include lunch, opportunities to develop a strong network of peer support and accountability, and voluntary feedback sessions.

Diversity lunch and learn events for faculty and staff
Attend an open forum on specific topics related to the university setting. Share ideas and also learn from other faculty and staff. Feel free to come and go based on your schedule. Co-hosted by Adena Young-Jones and Lyle Foster

Workshop Session 2
Critical perspectives: Micro-aggressions in academia
Have you ever witnessed or experienced a micro-aggression on campus? This session will examine varying levels of micro-aggressions as it corresponds with intent/impact. Opportunities for immediate application(s) will be discussed in an interactive forum.
Workshop Session 3
Critical perspectives: Assumptions on campus
Consider the impact of assumptions on perceptions and subsequent interactions with others. This session will allow you to converse in meaningful dialogues regarding miseducation and socialization. Opportunities for immediate application(s) will be discussed in an interactive forum.
Workshop Session 4
Critical perspectives: The university and social justice
Building on previous workshop discussions, contemplate your call to action for implementing socially just practices at the university. This session will prompt critical conversations regarding steps for progress. Opportunities for immediate application(s) will be discussed in an interactive forum.

Upcoming online course development boot camp
Online Course Development Boot Camp is an immersive-style workshop which will provide faculty with hands-on training and work time to develop an online course. At the end of the boot camp, you will have developed a significant part of your course and earn a badge which applies toward an online course certification.
