MSU honorary doctorate degrees – Deadline extended

September 24, 2020 by Charles Busby

The deadline for submitting nominations for an Honorary Degree has been extended until Monday, October 19.  A nomination letter, supporting letters, and other supporting documentation should be submitted as one PDF file to the Faculty Senate office by email. Nominations must come from the MSU community (current of past affiliation), although you can be assisted by people outside our campus. Current members of the MSU community, and elected officials are not eligible for the award.

The criteria include:

  • “extraordinary achievements of distinguished citizens”
  • “Although individuals with nationwide and worldwide recognition should not be excluded, preference should be given to distinguished candidates who have not been widely recognized and honored. Even more ideally, the individual honored should have some tie to this community, state, or region”.
  • “must be living at the time of selection and be present at the award ceremony”
For more information, contact Tom Tomasi, Chair, Honorary Degree Committee.
