The FCTL Advisory Council is proud to announce that James M. Lang, Ph.D. will be this year’s keynote speaker. James is author of six books, the most recent of which are:

• Distracted: Why Students Can’t Focus and What You Can Do About It (2020)
• Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning 2016), and
• Cheating Lessons: Learning from Academic Dishonesty 2013).

He has been writing a monthly column for the Chronicle of Higher Education for twenty years with close to two hundred essays in print as of 2023. As a former Professor of English and Director of the D’Amour Center for Teaching Excellence at Assumption University, he is a highly sought-after public speaker delivering conference keynotes or conducting workshops on teaching for faculty at more than a hundred colleges or universities in the United States and abroad.
