All Faculty Recognition Reception

Is your inbox un-bear-able? Calendar looking grizzly? Come take a break with us.

April 25, 2024 by Lucie Amberg

We’re winding down on the spring semester, and for many, the only thing more frightening than this week’s calendar is this week’s to-do list. When deadlines are looming and your inbox is bursting at the seams, it’s tempting to power through. If that pesky “one more thing” impulse won’t leave you alone, consider a bit of counterprogramming — in the form of a restorative break.

Celebrate and Socialize

As it happens, the offices of the president and the provost have put together an ideal opportunity to take a break: the All Faculty Recognition Reception on May 7. It’s got all the things: heavy hors d’oeuvres, slides, the PSU Ballroom. You’ll catch up with colleagues from across campus. You might even hear a bear pun or two.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to celebrate colleagues who are being recognized for remarkable commitments to teaching, research and service.

Awards

Good vibes are guaranteed when we cheer for recipients of the following awards:

  • Missouri State University Foundation Awards
    • Recognizing excellence in teaching, research and service.
  • Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
    • Recognizing one faculty member for exceptional teaching.
  • Citizenship and Service-Learning Awards
  • Education Abroad Awards
  • Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning Awards
  • Honors College Awards
  • Years of Service
    • Faculty who are celebrating 10-, 15-, 20- and 25-year service milestones will be featured in the slide presentation.
    • Faculty who are celebrating 30- and 35-year milestones will be invited on stage.
    • This year, we’ll also have the excitement of recognizing someone who has given 40 years of service to Missouri State.
  • Tenure and Promotion
    • Faculty who received tenure and/or promotion this year will be featured in the slide presentation.

You’ll feel great when you applaud your friends and colleagues, and you’ll gain those good vibes during a high-energy, focused event. Mary Lynne Golden, executive assistant to the provost, says the program will bear-ly last an hour, which — as any bear can tell you — could be slightly more or slightly less than an hour. But basically an hour. Please join us.
