Key Registration Tasks
Before Classes Begin
Access Your Class Information
- In My Missouri State, choose the card labeled “Faculty Schedule & Assignments.”
- Click on “Class Dashboard” to locate your class list.
- From the Class Dashboard, you can print attendance sheets, email students, access rosters (with program, drop and grade information) and familiarize yourself with students by viewing the class photo album.
What You Need to Know
- Class lists update in real time. Per university policy, only students who are listed on your roster (or can otherwise verify their enrollment) may attend class—including the first class.
- A student may elect to use first and middle names that differ from their legal name. These chosen names will be displayed on documents and within systems when it is feasible to do so. For example, if a student has submitted a chosen name, that is the name you will see on your class roster. (For more on the chosen name policy, visit this link.)
Once the Semester Begins
Adding and Dropping Classes
Beginning with the fall 2026 semester, Missouri State is implementing a streamlined registration schedule, with a focus on the first two weeks of the semester. Overall, this change is designed to create a more straightforward experience—for students and faculty. Read all about it here, and track important dates on the academic calendar.
What You Need to Know
- Beginning with the fall 2026 semester, faculty will be required to report student non-attendance during the first week. This means that, if a student hasn’t attended your class, you will need to report it. The mechanism for reporting it is currently under development. Once the mechanism rolls out, it will be communicated to faculty.
Report Mid-term Grades
- Visit My Missouri State, and choose the card labeled “Grading.”
- Click on the link labeled “Submit Grades.”
What You Need to Know
- All 100- and 200-level, full-semester classes are required to report mid-term grades.
- Check the academic calendar for the date grading opens, as well as the date when grades must be submitted.
As Students Approach Graduation
Shortly after a student applies to graduate, they’ll be added to the Graduation and Commencement community on Brightspace. This is a manual process, but it happens automatically—students don’t need to request access. In the Graduation and Commencement community, they’ll find relevant information for this important milestone. They’ll also get timely updates about things like parking and ceremony details.
As faculty, it may be helpful to know about the Graduation and Commencement community. If your students have questions regarding graduation, it’s a great place for them to find answers.
At the End of the Course
