Professor, Geography, Geology and Planning
Kevin lives life as a CitizenBear through various activities — whether instigating his own project or being volunteered by another!
While you may see our own MSU Geologist appearing as a regular expert on tv’s, What on Earth, Kevin is well known locally by sharing his passion with others. Through numerous civic presentations on geological and meteor impact sites, Kevin helps children to seniors understand our planet’s past, and its implications on the present and future. His public outreach extends to helping the Boy Scouts, Science Olympiad, Ozarks Science & Engineering Fair, various masonic charities, and nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity, where his wife ensures his participation in various projects.
Most recently, Kevin implemented the tenets of public affairs within his own neighborhood. Across the country we are seeing, and feeling, the loss of unity – Kevin says “generally speaking, we are losing a sense of community within our neighborhoods such as not knowing our neighbors, and that ability to ask for a cup of sugar when needed.” In 2017 Kevin developed and is current President of his Delaware Neighborhood Association. The association provides targeted opportunities for its residents to meet and get to know one another, as well as advocate for the area’s betterment within the city. As Kevin says, the neighbors are now investing in the unity of their community.
We are pleased to spotlight Kevin Evans for his devotion to the public affairs mission.
