Linda Steinshouer
Administrative Assistant, School of Social Work
When Missouri State faculty, staff and students find a passion, they find their place. This is true for Administrative Assistant Linda Steinshouer, who has allowed her passion for helping others to become a major part of her life. For this reason, she has earned the October Public Affairs Staff Spotlight.
For over 15 years, Linda has served on the Board of Directors for Arc of the Ozarks as a parent of someone with a developmental disability. Linda now serves on the Programs Committee where she provides advice from a parent’s perspective, as to which programs work, gaps in services and how they could be improved. She also volunteers with other events including the Fish Swap Meet, Christmas Extravaganza, and the Price Cutter Charity Championship. Linda also works with Champion Athletes of the Ozarks, and volunteers for their events as well.
Linda began her involvement in this line of work in order to better help her son, Logan, as well as the countless other parents in the area that have similar experiences with children with disabilities. She says Logan and other people like him are valued members of society and that giving them the resources to be active members of their community benefits not only them, but the community as a whole. Linda also says that a major part of her service revolves around helping other parents find resources for their children with special needs. With a great passion like this, it is easy to see that Linda is living out the Public Affairs mission. Thank you for all of your hard work, Linda!
