The maximum amounts for subsidized and unsubsidized loans varies depending on a student’s enrollment and year of attendance. For a full-time freshman undergrad student, the maximum amount that can be borrowed is $5,500, of which no more than $3,500 can be subsidized. For a full-time sophomore undergrad student, the maximum amount that can be borrowed is $6,500, of which no more than $4,500 can be subsidized. For a full-time junior or senior undergrad student, the maximum amount that can be borrowed is $7,500, of which no more than $5,500 can be subsidized. The grand total limit from all loans borrowed is $31,000, of which no more than $23,000 can be subsidized.
