Religious Studies alumnus Laura Pearson joined the Peace Corps and updated us recently about her upcoming stay in Cameroon. Here’s what Laura has to say:
Hello friends! Bonjour mes amis!
First of all, thanks for subscribing to what I hope will be an immensely interesting and entertaining series of updates from the Peace Corps! I haven’t got much to tell you just yet, as I will be departing in T minus 40 hours from Springfield. The upcoming week brings a great deal of transition, including two flights, two nights in Philadelphia, two more flights, four nights in Yaounde (Cameroon’s capital), and finally the big move-in with my host family in Bafia. In the mean time, I’ll be meeting up with all the other incoming PC Cameroon trainees, taking a French proficiency test, getting shots, signing paperwork, and, inevitably, doing plenty of waiting.
While I will be sending out periodic updates via email, I would also encourage you to read my blog at http://totheearthsend.blogspot.com/. I’ll be updating it as much as possible, and hopefully I’ll be able to post some pictures.
Thanks to Laura for the update!
