
Local author and Religious Studies instructor Mark Boyer recently announced the publication of five new books in 2018:
Talk to God and Listen to the Casual Reply: Experiencing the Spirituality of John Denver (Wipf & Stock, 2017), commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the popular singer-songwriter’s death in 1997, and guides the reader through an analysis of Denver’s spirituality as it emerges from the lyrics of his osngs.
Christ Our Passover Has Been Sacrificed: A Guide through Paschal Mystery Spirituality-Mystical Theology in The Roman Missal (Wipf & Stock, 2018), examines the paschal mystery as it is presented throughout the liturgical year in The Roman Missal.
Rosary Primer: The Prayers, The Mysteries, and The New Testament (Wipf & Stock, 2018), is an introduction to the devotional practice known as the rosary.
From Contemplation to Action: The Spiritual Process of Divine Discernment Using Elijah and Elisha as Models (Wipf & Stock, 2018), uses the models of the biblical prophets Elijah and Elisha as examples of the interaction between contemplation and activity in one’s spiritual life.
In All Things Mary: Honoring the Mother of God-An Anthology of Marian Reflections (Wipf & Stock, 2018), provides reflections on all biblical texts associated with Mary during the liturgical year.
Boyer is the author of 60 books on biblical and liturgical spirituality. A retired Catholic priest, Boyer has served as an associate pastor, high school teacher, adult education director, newspaper editor, among other positions, as well as teaching at Missouri State University.
