Welcome Back, Students!

August 10, 2020 by Jane Terry

Dr. Stephen Berkwitz, Department Head, Religious Studies, in our new MSU Religious Studies face mask!

Welcome back, students!  We are excited you are joining us to begin a new academic year, filled with promise, and some precaution (looking at you, Covid).

As our department head, Dr. Stephen Berkwitz demonstrates above, face masks are the hottest fashion (and health) accessory this year.  Striped, sports-branded, flowery, tie-dyed, industrial, kittens/puppies, haute couture, or basic black or white: they all work.

Please wear face masks on campus as described in Clif’s Notes, our MSU president’s blog.  The full draft mask policy may be found here (https://www.missouristate.edu/coronavirus/Masking-Policy.htm).

The College of Humanities and Public Affairs is implementing several measures to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.  Faculty, especially, have worked hard to develop syllabi and course modalities (online, blended, Zoom), as well as rearranging classrooms, to accommodate social distancing.

Who knows?  Maybe all of this will lead to improved teaching methods, greater opportunities and flexibility for students, and broader thinking about the role and means of higher education – let the adventure begin!

The Department of Religious Studies offers several undergraduate degrees:
Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Accelerated Master’s, and an online-only BA or BS in Religious Studies

Two undergraduate certificate programs:
Interfaith Engagement and Medical Humanities

A Minor in Religious Studies

And a Master of Arts in Religious Studies graduate degree

If you have questions about any of our programs, need help registering, or anything else, please feel free to contact JaneTerry@missouristate.edu.

See you soon!
