Congratulations to Missouri State University Religious Studies alumnus, Dr. Brian Doak, on the publication of his new book, Ancient Israel’s Neighbors (Oxford University Press, 2020)!
Dr. Doak (M.A., 2004), earned his Ph.D. at Harvard University and is currently Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at George Fox University. In addition to teaching and writing, he is Director of George Fox Digital, Faculty Fellow in the William Penn Honors Program at George Fox University, and co-hosts a podcast, “Weird Religion”, with Leah Payne at www.weirdreligion.com.
His new publication joins our collection of his previous books: The Last of the Rephaim: Conquest and Cataclysm in the Heroic Ages of Ancient Israel (2012), Consider Leviathan: Narratives of Nature and the Self in Job (2014), Phoenician Aniconism in Its Mediterranean and Ancient Near Eastern Contexts (2015), and Heroic Bodies in Ancient Israel (2019). He also co-authored The Bible: Ancient Context and Ongoing Community with Steve Sherwood (2014), and co-edited The Oxford Handbook of the Phoenician and Punic Mediterranean (2019) with Carolina López-Ruiz.
In his spare time (!) he hikes in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and children.
