Crime Alert – Burglary

Around noon on November 9, 2022, a burglary occurred in an office in Temple Hall. An individual wearing tennis shoes, blue jeans and a two-tone blue hoodie (photo below) was observed coming out of an unoccupied office where the door was left open. Items belonging to the university were determined to be missing. The individual was observed getting on a white bicycle and riding away.

This incident is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.

Reminder:

  • Do not leave items of value unattended.
  • Lock spaces when not in use.
  • Keep keys with you at all times.
  • Report suspicious activity to University Safety at 417-836-5509

Crime Alert – Robbery near campus

At about 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022, a robbery occurred in a parking lot in the 1000 block of east Cherry Street. An individual was approached by two individuals after he exited his vehicle. One demanded the keys to the vehicle and the other lifted his shirt exposing a handgun tucked into his waistband. The victim gave the suspects his keys and they drove away in his vehicle, a red 2017 Jeep Compass. The victim was not injured. The suspects were described as approximately 19-year old black males. One was described as having darker skin and the other having lighter skin.

This incident is being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.

Reminder:

Be aware of your surroundings.

Park and walk in well-lit areas after dark.

Walk with groups when possible.

Report suspicious activity to University Safety at 417-836-5509.
