Reported Aggravated Assault

At 4:45 p.m. this afternoon, an individual interrupted two suspects breaking into his vehicle. The incident occurred at Bear Park South at the corner of Grand Street and Holland Avenue. The individual confronted the suspects and they threatened him with a knife. TheĀ  individual fled the area and was briefly pursued by the suspects.

The suspects continued out of Bear Park south and headed south on Holland away from campus.

Suspect one is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, about 6 feet tall and average build.

Suspect two is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, average build and brownish/red facial hair.

The Springfield Police Department responded to the incident and is currently in the area investigating.

Reminder:

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • If you see someone in or around your vehicle, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.
  • If you see this individual, stay away and contact the Springfield Police at 9-1-1.
  • If you have any information concerning this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810 or 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Reported Motor Vehicle Theft

On the afternoon of January 3, 2018, an individual reported a motor vehicle theft. The individual reported that the vehicle was locked in Lot 52 (at the corner of Walnut Street and Kimbrough Avenue) earlier in the morning. They returned to their vehicle this afternoon and found the vehicle missing.

Earlier this week an individual attempted to steal a motorcycle from Bear Park North.

These incidents are being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.

Reminder:

Always lock your vehicle

Remove your keys and items of value from your vehicle

Report suspicious activity to Public Safety at 417-836-5509
