The Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA) annual meeting in Omaha, Nebraska concluded yesterday with Certified ATs and AT students attending their respective State meeting. The MAATA board reported this year’s attendance at the meeting was the largest in history! Over 30 athletic training students and 4 faculty members from the Department of Sports Medicine and Athletic Training (SMAT) at Missouri State University were present this year.
On the way home from the meeting, second year AT student, Anna Lynne Sheridan’s parent opens their home to the SMAT department and in turn, students and faculty opened their hearts to this gracious family. Cynthia and John Sheridan along with Anna-Lynn’s grandmother hosted a wonderful dinner for the students and faculty.
Mamma Cynthia had her home impeccably decorated with MSU bears and athletic-related table centerpieces for the group.
After dinner, Anna-Lynn’s dad John served up famous Sheridan’s frozen custard with all sorts of delicious toppings for the group.
John also addressed the group with an inspiring “Life Lesson by John” where he spoke about the responsibility this group of students has as future health care providers.
Thank you to the Sheridan family for your hospitality!
