Sue Camp
Director of Development and Sales, Juanita K. Hammons Hall
As a native of Springfield, I have felt a kinship with Missouri State University all my life. It started when my father took a class for parents on how to help me with mathematics homework, continued through high school when many evenings were spent at Tent Theatre and with theatre students, on until I joined staff in 2008. I started life as a Bear at Ozarks Public Television and KSMU, and am now happily a part of the staff at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Being a part of the University Staff Ambassadors program was significant for me, in that learning about all we have to offer on campus made me want to contribute more. I am delighted to have been nominated for Staff Senate and would welcome the opportunity to serve as a Senator.
Priscilla Childress
Coordinator, Parent & Family Programs
I started at Missouri State in 2014 and fell in love with the campus and culture. I’m a full-fledge Bear! As coordinator of Parent & Family Programs, I work with family members of our current students, partnering with them as champions for student success. Planning events for families such as Family Weekend has provided me the opportunity to meet and work with many staff members across the campus, offering me insights in to what each office provides to our family members. Together, we all provide an experience to our families that exceeds their expectations. It’s so encouraging to work at a school where families are valued by the staff. Being a member of Staff Senate would offer me the opportunity to give back to the staff and community of Missouri State that have given me so much.
A’dja Jones
Academic Counselor
I have been employed full-time at Missouri State since June of 2014 as an Academic Counselor in the Athletics department after attending the university as both an undergraduate and graduate student. Some would agree that I bleed Maroon & White. I currently assist student-athletes with academic endeavors such as weekly course objectives, study skills, acquiring tutors, course scheduling, NCAA eligibility requirements and numerous other tasks. I also enjoy working with faculty and staff throughout the university whether through email communications, volunteer opportunities, athletic events, or committees. My desire to be a Staff Senator stems from appreciation for my alma mater, but also the opportunity to give back and take an active role in continuously improving the Missouri State experience for those attending and serving. I would be honored to serve on Staff Senate.
Shamika Kentish
Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance
I am a new member to the Missouri State campus community but my desire to be a leader and a change state here is stronger than ever. I am currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and from experience, I have noticed that the Athletic Department and Campus community seem like they are separate entities. I want to be catalyst for change, I want to been seen on campus in different areas as much as possible and show that we are all working towards a common goal. It would be my honor to serve on the Missouri State University Staff Senate so I may help improve the campus life for our staff while hopefully becoming an inspiration to the athletes that with hard work, you can achieve all your goals. I have a great passion for mentorship and I believe my time on the Staff Senate will allow me to gain the platform I need to gain the trust of my co-workers and students on campus. I am very humbled that I was nominated for a seat and I would be honored to serve.
Galen Martin
Associate Director of Campus Recreation
I am the Associate Director of Campus Recreation in the Student Affairs Division. I have worked my entire life as a servant leader. I started my career as a high school science teacher, head wrestling coach, and Professional whitewater guide. Then I moved to University recreation in which I have ten years’ experience. That passion for recreation has created a path to be a permanent Bear at Missouri State University. In my job, I help my staff create programs for faculty, staff, and students that teach lifelong wellness and leadership skills. I also help keep the Foster Recreation Center operating for the thousands of faculty, staff, and students that visit every day. Currently I am in committees that focus of students and Student Affairs, and would like the opportunity to serve all my fellow staff members on the Staff Senate. I would be honored to serve you as the Job Family 4 Staff Senator.
Kate Roessler
Assistant Director of Student Engagement for Fraternity and Sorority Life
I began working in the Office of Student Engagement at Missouri State University in July of 2015. In this role, I collaborate with various campus departments and work directly with a wide range of university staff that serve as Faculty/Staff Advisors for our chapters and other student organizations. Though I am relatively new to the Missouri State community, I recognize the importance of staff satisfaction and its significant impact on student experience, a system in which Staff Senate plays a major role. Through my work with various fraternity and sorority life councils on this campus and others, I have been involved with student governing bodies consistently for the past four years. My work with students in engaging with campus democracy has produced a similar passion for Staff Senate, and I would be honored to serve the Missouri State University community as a Staff Senator.
Laura Whitmire
Associate Director of Student Engagement
I joined the Missouri State University community last summer as the Associate Director of Student Engagement implementing the university’s leadership programs and overseeing fraternity and sorority life. In these roles I am able to partner with staff, faculty, community agencies, volunteer advisors, and various campus departments. Over this year I have watched Staff Senate debate issues regarding staff policies, organize opportunities to bring staff together, and continue to find ways to make sure Missouri State remains a supportive and innovative place to work. Because of my involvement in Staff Senate’s Public Affairs and Staff Relations committees, the executive board appointed me to fulfill a vacant senator position for a term ending in June 2016. I would be honored to build upon this experience and continue to serve the Missouri State University community as a Staff Senator.
Mark Woolsey
Assessment & Learning Outcomes Consultant
My desire to serve on the Staff Senate is a natural extension of my profession and interests. Though I am a relatively new member of the campus community, I’ve spent most of the last decade in public policy, research, and organizational psychology working to find realistic solutions to everyday problems. My work as a Consultant in the Office of Assessment has a similar goal: helping MSU staff and faculty improve students’ experiences here by making their own work easier. I have already been involved with Staff Senate serving as an interim senator and assisting with the staff satisfaction survey. Working with Staff Senate would extend that service as I seek ways to improve staff satisfaction and further MSU’s role as a center of public affairs leadership in the community and the state.
