Spencer Orr has been selected to receive the Missouri Graduate Student Rising Star Award through the NASPA IV-West Association! This award is presented to a graduate student from each state in NASPA IV-West (10 awards total) who meets the following criteria:
- Currently pursuing masters or doctoral work in a Student Affairs-related degree program, with intention of pursuing a career within Student Affairs.
- Involvement in campus activities and organizations
- Campus leadership
- Graduate Assistantship, paraprofessional or internship employment within a Student Affairs Division
Spencer, a second-year graduate student in MSU’s Student Affairs and Higher Education (SAHE) Master’s program and the hall director for Wells House, was nominated by Dr. Thomas Lane. Dr. Lane had this to say about Spencer “I have been greatly impressed by Spencer’s performance during his tenure as a Resident Assistant, a student leader within the Residence Hall Association, a Residence Life Assistant Hall Director, and successful graduate student. From my vantage point, he has done a terrific job throughout all of his organizational roles. He consistently has represented the organizations he has been involved with well and has conveyed a sense of enthusiasm and passion for being a Missouri State Bear. Accordingly, I know he is highly regarded by his residents, fellow graduate student colleagues, Residence Life staff, SAHE faculty, and other MSU faculty and staff.”
Spencer will be presented this distinguished award at the upcoming NASP IV-West conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, November 11-13. Congratulations, Spencer!
