The Office of Student Engagement is very excited to see Traditions Council entering its second year of service to Missouri State University. This student committee has been purposed to promote and preserve traditions which will support student engagement in athletics and university life to enhance the “Bear experience” for Missouri State students. This is a fitting mission as the council seeks to utilize the BEAR fee to promote school spirit. Athletically speaking, this is done by holding pep rallies and tailgates, providing free bus trips to out of town games, and distributing spirited promotional items at home stands. This, of course, includes the ever popular Wichita is NOT a State t-shirts that are distributed to add some fun to our conference rivalry with the Shockers. Traditions Council aims to grow its impact in implementing and preserving general spirit across campus by hosting Fountain Day to celebrate the coming of spring and publishing Bear Facts, which provides a brief history of the institution and a bucket list of traditions to be completed before a student graduates. To stay up to date on all the great things Traditions Council is doing, please follow us on Twitter @MOStateTC and keep on the lookout for our campus publicity.
