- Currently pursuing masters or doctoral work in a Student Affairs-related degree program, with intention on pursuing a career within Student Affairs
- Involvement in campus activities and organizations
- Campus leadership
- Graduate Assistantship, paraprofessional, or internship employment within a Student Affairs Division
Emma, a second-year graduate student in MSU’s Student Affairs and Higher Education (SAHE) Master’s program and the Graduate Assistant for the Dean of Students Office, was nominated by Dr. Thomas Lane. Dr. Lane had this to say about Emma “This past academic year, Emma played a critical role in the Dean of Students Office by serving as the point-person for our implementation of HAVEN, a required on-line course for all new university students designed to create awareness regarding sexual assault, stalking, and relationship violence. In her role, Emma worked with representatives from Ever-Fi to ensure a smooth implementation, established positive working relationships with university computer services personnel, presented numerous educational sessions across campus to students, faculty, and staff about the program, tracked program participation, and followed-up with students required to take the course but had not yet done so. Additionally, Emma was an active participant in our university’s Title IX Student Task Force charged with overseeing student awareness efforts surrounding gender-based sexual violence. She was particularly helpful with promoting and marketing our university’s showing of “The Hunting Ground.” With the leadership experience Emma has exhibited thus far at Missouri State, I am confident she fits the award criteria and I am greatly looking forward to her future contribution to the Student Affairs profession.”
Emma will be presented this distinguished award at the upcoming NASPA IV-West Conference in Beaver Creek, Colorado, November 8-12, 2015. Congratulations, Emma!
