Recently, the Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) graduate program hosted two student-led initiatives. The first event, the 2016 Assessment Symposium, served as a way for students in the program to highlight and present research to the Missouri State community. The Symposium occurred on February 18, 2016 on the third floor of the Plaster Student Union and included presentations by cohort 8, posters from cohort 9, food, learning, and discussion. Over fifty professionals from two different higher education institutions attended the event and interacted with twenty graduate students from the SAHE program.
The second event, Graduate Recruitment Weekend, occurred on February 19th and 20th, 2016. This annual event kicked off with a presentation from Dr.Lori Patton, Associate Professor at Indiana University-Purdue, followed by a social and dinner downtown at the Kentwood Crystal Room. SAHE faculty, current students, and prospective students were all invited to attend this wonderful event. In addition to socials and presentations, prospective students were offered the opportunity to interview for open graduate assistantships within student affairs departments and offices. In all, eighteen students were registered for the weekend and fifteen attended. Current SAHE students shared their experiences and personal testimonies with prospective students and faculty discussed the benefits of our program.
