Jill Wiggins, MBA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, was presented with the 2016 LEAD Award by the Missouri State Council of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) on August 3 at the SHRM Missouri State Conference at Tan-Tar-A Resort. This prestigious award is given to recognize and honor a Missouri Human Resources professional who has achieved the highest level of Leadership, Excellence, Achievement and Dedication in the field of Human Resources. All nominees must be a current member of SHRM, the Missouri State Council of SHRM or a SHRM Affiliated Local Missouri Chapter. Each candidate is evaluated based upon their individual contribution(s) to one or both of the following:
-Holds an outstanding record of contributions to the Human Resources profession as an innovator, advocate and/or thought leader.
-Holds an outstanding record of volunteer service to the profession through leadership in a SHRM Affiliated Local Missouri Chapter, the Missouri State Council of SHRM and/or SHRM.
Wiggins has served the human resources profession in a variety of capacities for more than 18 years. She has held numerous leadership roles within the Springfield Area Human Resources Association (SAHRA) including Past President, President, President-Elect, Secretary and Membership Committee. She also served on the Missouri State Council of SHRM both as a District Director and Director, President SAHRA. Wiggins has been the Director of the Missouri State University Career Center since September 2014. Prior to that she spent 13 years as the Director of Career Planning & Development at Drury University and 3 ½ years as a Human Resources Generalist for Hiland Dairy Foods Company. She has been active on numerous committees both at work and throughout the Springfield community and is a graduate of Leadership Springfield Class 27.
Her nomination stated, “Jill is fully focused on employees – developing them, preparing them for future endeavors, listening to them, serving them and providing the best working environment possible. Jill leads with a servant’s heart – asking questions, seeking opinions, listening, supporting, encouraging, motivating and authentically caring for all who have the opportunity to know her.” Wiggins has a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Spanish from Drury University. She earned the professional certifications SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) and the SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional). Wiggins was recently named the 2016 Springfield Business Journal Top Local Human Resources Professional in May.
