Sustainability in Practice: Consensus and Consequences
When we think of the word “Sustainability” thoughts of recycling and energy efficient choices come to mind but it means so much more than just about conserving our environment. This year’s theme opened our eyes to the broader meaning of how societal building blocks such as government, business, education, the arts, medicine and human services have an impact on every individual world-wide. We learned about strategies in mitigation and adaptation and the need to make relevant changes to positively impact the future of our world for generations to come.
The conference was free and open to the public with more than 30 experts from all over the country who were willing to assist in teaching about what it means to build a healthy community. Open discussions were encouraged to facilitate dialogue on how we can navigate the challenges we face today that effect our tomorrow.
