Impact Summit: College Student Mental Health Conference

May 7, 2018 by Jennifer Patillo

The Impact Summit: College Student Mental Health Conference was a day-long conference consisting of keynote speakers and educational break-out sessions focusing on topics pertaining to college student mental health.  The break-out sessions were taught by professionals in the field of mental health that came to Missouri State University from a variety of colleges, universities and leading organizations in the field of mental health.  We also had the pleasure to hear from a variety of engaging keynote speakers;  Kevin Hines who is a brain/mental health advocate, award-winning global speaker, bestselling author and documentary filmmaker, Alison Malmon the Founder and Executive Director of Active Minds, Inc., and Mike Veny a leading mental health speaker and a high-energy drum circle facilitator.  Through educational dialogue, there were community conversations surrounding mental health that assisted in destigmatizing mental health concerns.

There were many sponsors to thank such as: Missouri Foundation for Health, Chartwells, Burrell Behavioral Health, NASPA Region IV-W, NAMI Southwest Missouri, Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Missouri Mental Health Foundation, OTC, Partners in Prevention, Springfield-Greene County Health Department, Junior League of Springfield and Missouri State University Office of the Dean of Students.
