November: Native and Indigenous Heritage Month

November 19, 2018 by Jennifer Patillo

In past years, Native and Indigenous Heritage Month at Missouri State University was called “Native American Heritage Month.” Missouri State has changed the name this year to incorporate tribes and nations outside of Native Americans and celebrate the groups more holistically.

Events highlighted communities and histories that are not usually included in the educational curriculum and affirm these identities. This months events were sponsored by MSU’s multicultural programs, and were free and open to the public. The Native and Indigenous Heritage Month Banquet was highlighted by the talents of the,”Beyond the Circle Dancers” performers.
