Twon Madison, graduate assistant for the Disability Resource Center, has been named Outstanding Administrative Graduate Assistant. Many administrative and academic offices could not run effectively if it were not for the dedicated help of graduate assistants. This award recognizes one graduate student who has proven to be capable of taking on responsibilities beyond the job requirements. This will be announced at the virtual Einhellig Interdisciplinary Forum on Saturday, May 2nd from 10am-1pm.

Twon has been with the Access Technology Center since 2018 and started as a Graduate Assistant in June 2019. He is working on an Interdisciplinary Masters in both Organizational Communication and Disability/Accessibility and will graduate in December. In his time with the Disability Resource Center, he has gradually taken on more responsibility, such as supervising our Student Employees and independently running accessibility training. He coordinates the textbook conversion process and conducts meetings with new students referred to our office.
Twon has refined the Document Accessibility training and is now typically the person presenting it. One of his newest projects was developing and maintaining social media accounts for Missouri State University on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter that focus on accessibility. You can find those accounts with the handle @MOStateA11y. When the pandemic hit Missouri State, Twon helped develop a plan to keep the ATC team connected and working remotely. He takes every opportunity to learn more about accessibility and how it affects all people, not only those with disabilities.
According to Kristeena LaRoue, Associate Director of the Disability Resource Center says, “Honestly, without him we would be totally lost! He is instantly liked by anyone he meets and has been an irreplaceable part of our team. This award is so deserved and we appreciate all he has done for our office and Missouri State!”
Congratulations Twon!
