Five Things – This Week in Student Affairs – September 28th

September 28, 2021 by Priscilla Childress

Take a moment to see all that is going on in the Division of Student Affairs this week.

1. Flu Shots – Flu shots are available at Magers Health and Wellness Center. Visit your MyHealthPortal to schedule your appointment. Find out more here: https://health.missouristate.edu/flu-information.htm

2. Public Affairs Conference – The Public Affairs Conference is taking place this week through September 30th. This year’s conference will be a mixture of in-person events and live virtual programming as we explore the various facets of Bridging the Divide.  See the schedule of events here: https://publicaffairs.missouristate.edu/conference/schedule

3. Multicultural Resource Center Grand Opening – Mark your calendars for the grand opening of the Multicultural Resource Center on October 16th, 12 noon, 1st floor of the Plaster Student Union. Come enjoy refreshments, music and giveaways. https://bit.ly/3lFu7N2

4. Encourage Students to Participate in MoState Family Feud – MoState Family Feud, sponsored by the Office of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity, is a fun and engaging event for student organizations to engage with campus resources, meet other groups, and learn more about their role at Missouri State University. We have some great prizes for our winners and participants! The event will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in PSU 313. There is no cost to participate! Please have your student organizations create a team of 3 and RSVP at the link following! Questions should be directed to Chase Stockton, Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct. RSVP: https://forms.office.com/r/GBA6PuJ7JY

5. The 2022 SOAR Application has Opened – Recruitment for our summer 2022 SOAR leaders has opened. Please share this information with the students you work with. SOAR leaders lead groups of new first-year students and their family members and educate them about campus resources and student life issues to help them succeed at Missouri State University. SOAR leaders’ work is essential to the Missouri State community. They help students feel more comfortable on campus, more confident about their ability to succeed, more connected to others, and more curious about possible opportunities. Bonus: Celebrating 100 Years of Homecoming – Homecoming 2021 will take place on October 16th. There are many activities between October 10th and October 16th. One of these is the Office Decorating Contest. To enter the office decorating contest, visit https://www.missouristate.edu/Assets/StudentEngagement/2021OfficeDecorating.pdf, complete the form and return it to Addy Emmons by October 6th. Judging will take place October 12th! To see other events taking place during the week, visit https://alumni.missouristate.edu/homecoming/ and https://www.missouristate.edu/studentengagement/homecoming/. It’s going to be such a fun time at Missouri State!
