1. Indigenous Heritage Month – Join us in celebrating Indigenous Heritage Month at Missouri State. The office of multicultural programs will host a variety of educational and social events through Nov. 23. 2. Cupcakes with Conduct – The Office of Student Conduct will be hosting Cupcakes with Conduct on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 pm on the 2nd floor of the PSU. Attendees will be able to engage with office staff and have the opportunity to answer a trivia question to receive a cupcake! We would greatly appreciate this event being shared with students.
3. Assistant Director of Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life Position – There are two upcoming open forums for candidates for the Assistant Director of Student Engagement – Fraternity and Sorority Life position. Each candidate has been asked to prepare a 10-minute presentation on the topic of The Future of Fraternity and Sorority Life: How Can FSL Stay Relevant with Today’s College Student followed by questions from attendees. Electronic feedback form information will be provided at the forums. Please plan to attend if your schedule allows.

4. Director, Residence Life, Housing and Dining – Please join us to interview Patrick Connor for the Director of Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services position. Mr. Connor served as the Interim Senior Director of Dining and Culinary at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana until May 2020. Prior to that, Mr. Connor was the Executive Director of Residential Programs and Services at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana for nineteen years. Mr. Connor also served as the Assistant Director of Residence Life—Operations and Facilities Management at University of Wisconsin—OshKosh, and as the Associate Director of Residence Life—Personnel and Administration at Indiana University. Mr. Connor received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at St. Norbert College, then obtained his MBA in Personnel Emphasis at the University of Wisconsin—OshKosh. The presentation topic: Retaining students within the Residence Life program is essential for many reasons. Please discuss the importance of retaining students already within the program, retention strategies you would incorporate, and strategies you would use to attract new students to the Residence Halls.

7. First-Generation College Celebration Week – Join us in celebrating our first-generation students, staff and faculty. There are many activities planned for the entire week including tabling by MSU-I’m First, the student organization for first generation students, profiles of first generation faculty and staff members, and a Mock Interview Day hosted by the Career Center. Also, a student workshop featuring special guest Richard Taylor, Jr., a mental health expert, speaker and author. The first 50 students attending this workshop will receive his book, 31 Days of Power.
Bonus: Bear a Friend – Send a Sleuth (a group of bears) to a co-worker, friend, professor here at Missouri State. You can send a bunch of bears for a one-time suggested donation of $5.00. The collected funds will go to the Student Emergency Fund. How does it work?
