1. Celebrate Black History Month – The office of multicultural programs at Missouri State University will host this year’s events and presentations. 3. Student Success Workshop Series: Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services – Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services is hosting a Student Success Workshop Series in the month of February. The purpose of the workshops are to help students achieve academic success through increased knowledge and hands-on experience in topic areas surrounding academic and personal growth. Workshops are listed below with dates and times of each workshop. This year the workshops will be in person with a virtual option for individuals who cannot attend in person. For a description of each workshop and more information about how a student can join a workshop they are interested in and our incentive program, please click here. If you know of any students who would benefit from our workshop series, please share this information with them.
4. SGA sponsors Dear World Campaign – SGA is proud to announce they’re bringing the Dear World Campaign to Missouri State’s campus February 2nd and 3rd. Dear World believes in the power of your personal story and provides the platform for purpose-driven storytelling. More information about Dear World can be found HERE. On February 3rd, in the PSU Atrium from 10am – 5pm, the public, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate.
5. A Conversation with Dee – The Division of Student Affairs is an inclusive unit of many different personalities and ideas. From seasoned professionals to those new to the field, conversations and the sharing of these ideas is an excellent way for the division to remain champions for student success. 6. Bear a Friend – Send a Sleuth (a group of bears) to a co-worker, friend, professor here at Missouri State. You can send a bunch of bears for a one-time suggested donation of $5.00. The collected funds will go to the Student Emergency Fund. How does it work? Complete the form below and under the cover of darkness (or whenever their office is empty), your friends space will come alive with bears! The bears will be collected from the office two days after the bearing has taken place. Make a friend/co-worker feel special and have some fun! 7. 2022 MSU Student Employee of the Year – Can you imagine running your area without student workers? Student workers are an essential component for smooth operations at the university. Show your appreciation for your student employee(s) by nominating them for 2022 MSU Student Employee of the Year. The winner of this prestigious award will represent your department and MSU as they progress to a regional, state, and national level competition where they may win prizes and recognition. Bonus: Student, faculty, and staff action research group to host racial allyship conference in March during Women’s History Month – Join this provocative conversation about campus racial allyship on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 7:00 p.m., in the Plaster Student Union Theater. The Unlikely Allies Conference includes a campus-wide lecture and book signing with Dr. Karen L. Dace, author of Unlikely Allies in the Academy: Women of Color and White Women in Conversation.
